Kona Cafe

Try a taste of the South Seas at Kona Cafe, a table-service restaurant tucked away in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Here, you can enjoy a mix of American dishes and some Asian-inspired fare – with a tropical Polynesian twist, of course.

Though this Disney World dining spot features some cool adult-leaning touches like plenty of tropical cocktails and a sushi kitchen that allows you to watch traditional sushi chefs roll nigiri, sashimi, and other options, it’s actually surprisingly family-friendly.

Plus, with readily available reservations, it’s usually always easy to grab a table.

Kona Cafe Location

To find Kona Cafe at the Polynesian, head inside the Great Ceremonial House. The restaurant is sandwiched between BouTiki and ‘Ohana.

Kona Cafe Menu

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served at Kona Cafe. One of the perks of dining here – in addition to the tasty food, of course – is that the menu changes for all three meals of the day.

While much of what’s on the menu will be slightly different to kids’ usual picks across the Disney World theme parks and resorts, there are still plenty of options for picky eaters. Adults who want more adventurous options for themselves will love the blend of familiar and not-so-common dishes here.

Take a look at what’s on the Kona Cafe menu below.

Disney Dining Plan

You can use the Disney Dining Plan for any meal of the day at Kona Cafe. It’ll cost you one table-service meal credit per person to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner here.

Just note that as a table-service option, Kona Cafe only accepts the Disney Dining Plan, not the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan.

Advance Dining Reservations

Since Kona Cafe is a table-service restaurant, advance dining reservations (ADRs) are offered and recommended ahead of your visit.

While Disney always recommends making an ADR for any table-service dining destination, in our experience, you might be able to get away without one at Kona Cafe. It simply depends on the time of year and how crowded the parks (and the Polynesian Resort) are. However, walk-up spots are commonly available – so keep an eye out for last-minute reservations, too.

Is Kona Cafe Kid-Friendly?

Kona Cafe is quite family-friendly, even though its interior might look sleek and slightly elevated. The table-service dining spot is designed with families in mind, from its menu – which, as you can see above, is tailored to both picky eaters and adults with broader tastes – to its atmosphere.

You can bring little ones of every age group to Kona Cafe without concern. The dining atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and you won’t need to worry about reigning in kids who are a bit wiggly or not on their quietest behavior.

Plus, if you’re visiting with older kids, they might be interested in the “entertainment” that takes place during mealtime: the onstage sushi kitchen allows for a peek into how some of the dishes are made, which can be more engaging than just hanging out with their parents.
