Can’t get a seat at the bar or tables inside Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto? There’s an alternative, one that serves the same menu of tropically-inspired sips: Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace. This lush hideaway in the back of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is an inviting outdoor terrace with amazing views of Seven Seas Lagoon. And, in our opinion, it’s a great place to wind down at the end of a long theme park day.
Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace Location
Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is tucked away in the back of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. If you walk through the lobby and head down the hallway behind the gift shops, you’ll find Capt. Cook’s and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. If you go all the way to the end of the hallway and go outside to the left, you’ll find Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace.
Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace Menu
If the line is too long at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto or you joined the walk-up list only to realize your chances of getting into the restaurant are low, Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace gives you all the same food and drinks, just without the unique experience. So, if you’ve been dying to sip on an Uh-Oa or Spikey Pineapple, you can do so – you’ll just get a bit of a different setting.
Just like its indoor counterpart, Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is all about the drinks. Yes, there are some appetizers on the menu, but the drinks are really the star of the show. While you can make a full meal out of the appetizers offered here, it’s really best treated as somewhere to grab a drink, not dinner.

Disney Dining Plan

Advance Dining Reservations
Since Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is a quick-service location, it does not require or offer advance dining reservations (ADRs). It’s currently set up as first-come, first-served location and is based on table availability when you arrive.
Most nights can get quite busy, so we recommend arriving early if you’re looking for a spot to watch the fireworks or just hang out and relax. Keep in mind that on certain days it can draw more of a crowd, such as weekends and peak crowd seasons throughout the year.
Is Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace Kid-Friendly?
If you’re looking for a spot where the parents can grab a few drinks while the family enjoys a few light bites, the outdoor terrace is a great alternative. Since it’s outdoors, kids won’t need to be as contained as they would inside the indoor location for Trader Sam’s.
That being said, if you’re looking for a heartier meal for the kids, you’ll likely want to go next door to Capt. Cook’s for a larger quick-service menu selection.
