Disney’s All-Stars Movies Resort is one of the three most affordable hotels at Disney World, along with Disney’s All-Star Sports and All-Star Music. As a Walt Disney World Value Resort, you don’t get much in the way of luxurious amenities or spacious rooms, but you do get larger-than-life Disney theming, kid-friendly play areas and pools, and a much cheaper Disney vacation that allows for more money to spend on park tickets, food, and merch.

I like All-Star Movies because it allows me to stay longer at Disney than I would get to if I picked a more expensive hotel. And despite that lower price point, it still has all the great perks of a Disney hotel: free parking, free transportation to the parks, fun pools and play areas, on-site laundry, a food court, early theme park entry, and, of course, Disney details everywhere you look.In fact, if you have little ones (toddlers, school-age kids, and even preteens), they’re more likely to appreciate the larger-than-life Disney character statues from films such as One Hundred and One Dalmatians and Toy Story than they would the elegant theming of, say, the Grand Floridian.

All-Star Movies Resort Room Tour

I have stayed at all three All-Stars Resorts multiple times, and I love them all for the price point. On my most recent visit, I stayed in a Standard Room at All-Star Movies with one king bed, but you can also get a Standard Room that has a queen bed and queen-size table bed. I recommend the latter option if traveling with kids; Disney doesn’t allow rollaway beds in any of its rooms.

Each Standard Room at All-Star Movies comes with basic amenities, including a coffee maker with Joffrey’s Coffee packages, a beverage cooler, an in-room safe, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, and the new Hey Disney app, which operates like an Amazon Alexa. (You can turn this off if you don’t want the device listening during your stay.)

The room comes with a large TV with plenty of channels, but don’t expect free access to Disney+. Luckily, there are plenty of Disney-owned kids channels (you can almost always count on finding an episode of Bluey during the day). The bathrooms are divided into the sink area and then a separate area for the toilet and shower. Some rooms have a true tub with showerhead and shower curtain, but there are also wheelchair-accessible showers available, with no tub format.

The room includes nice Disney details above the bed, with Mickey, Minnie, and Donald artwork, and there’s plenty of lighting all around the room. As someone who runs hot, I do get frustrated that Disney doesn’t let you turn the AC down past 68 degrees. In the heat of late July, it never felt cool enough in the room. There’s also no ceiling fan, which you can get at Walt Disney World Moderate Resorts for a little more money.

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort Pool, Dining, and Transportation

The main feature pool at All-Star Movies is the Fantasia pool, with a large Sorcerer Mickey statue conducting jets of water. If your kids haven’t yet watched Fantasia or Fantasia 2000, take them to see Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to see him in action. Once they do, they’ll likely be ecstatic to see him at the pool. There’s also a kiddie pool and water play area here, and the pool has easy access to the Silver Screen Spirits Pool Bar.

If you prefer something a little quieter, head to the Duck Pond Pool, inspired by The Mighty Ducks. Kids will also enjoy the playground area, the Reel Fun Arcade (in the main building), and a simple stroll through all the sections of the resort to see the theming.

Dining options are limited at All-Star Movies. Besides the pool bar, you can get cafeteria-style food at World Premiere Food Court. There’s nothing special here, but kids will love the basic burgers, pizza, chicken strips, and pasta. There are also breakfast options at World Premiere, including grab-and-go snacks if you’re heading to the park. You can also wander to the food courts at All-Star Music and All-Star Sports, but the offerings are pretty much identical.

Alternatively, you can walk or drive about half a mile down the street to the only McDonald’s at Disney World. I’m not a huge fan of McDonald’s generally, but the quality at this one is far superior to what you might get at a random Mickey D’s off a highway exit ramp.

Parking is free if you come with a car, and you’ll also be able to park for free at the four Disney World theme parks, the two water parks, and Disney Springs. But you can also rely on the buses at All-Star Movies to get around to the parks and Disney Springs. Depending on where your room is located, it might be more convenient to walk to the nearby All-Star Music Resort and take their bus. On my last stay, I was in a Mighty Ducks building, so it made more sense to take the Music bus.

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort Review

So is Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort a good place to stay during your Disney World vacation? If you’re traveling on a budget or have young kids who love Disney, absolutely yes. This hotel is affordable (by Disney standards, at least), has lots of fun decor and activities for kids, and comes with lots of great perks, including free transportation and early theme park entry.

You don’t have access to more upscale dining, you’re limited to bus transportation, and you’re far from most of the parks (Magic Kingdom is way on the other side of the resort). But for the money, you can’t beat All-Star Movies.
