The Boneyard is an interactive playground located in the DinoLand USA area of Animal Kingdom. It’s similar to the Honey I Shrunk the Audience Playground in Disney Hollywood Studios, except is designed to look like an archeological dig. There are things kids can climb on, jump on and even dig in.
Kinds love digging in the dirt. They love Dinsoaurs. They can play here for hours. What’s not to love?

The Attraction
The playground is designed for children 4 and older. Some adults (vertically challenged adults) might be able to move around in the tunnels and slides, but clearly this is a children’s play area. The entrance is beside the Jeep. Once you enter there is a set of ribs where you can rap on the bones which play notes. These are called xylobones.
If you have younger children, you can enter the play area then climb to the second level, cross over the bridge to where there is a shaded area complete with large fans and music. In this area there is a “dig site” where kids can dig for bones. (Don’t worry the kids getting dirty, the dirt is small pebbles that brush off easily.)
There is no time limit, but during the heat of the day it does get very hot.
Fun Facts
Here are some interesting tidbits –
- The floor is a squishy (yes, that’s a technical term) mat-like material that decreases the chances of injury.

Dad’s Bottom Line
If the kids need to blow off some steam send them in. Just know, you may have to go in after them when it’s time to move on.
