Attraction Overview
If you’ve visited the variants of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups in the American parks, you will find yourself referring to this ride as the Mad Tea Party. It’s Alice’s Tea Party in Tokyo and Mad Hatter Tea Cups in Hong Kong, and otherwise, they are all very much the same: iconic and perfect fun for all ages.
The Disneyland Paris version has a reputation for being an efficient, high-turnover, low wait-time attraction. Cups seat two adults comfortably and more with children to varying degrees of discomfort, as long as the ride vehicle’s door closes properly, we’re off to the races. The speed and direction of each individual teacup’s spin are controlled by the rider through manipulation of the central control. At the same time, the teacup rotates as part of a group upon turntables that rotate independently of the rider’s control.
Queue and Storyline
It’s an Unbirthday Party, and you’re invited! Pour yourself and your group into one of the massive teacups and get ready for a high-speed spin of Very Merry proportions! Work together to turn the central control faster to increase your rate of spin to outrageous speeds, or don’t turn the central control at all for a calmer, but still spintacular experience. You choose how your teacup whirls!
Accessibility
The Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups is a ride featuring little or no flash. The ride is not advised for pregnant women. Guests using a wheelchair will be required to transfer to a ride vehicle. Guide and assistance dogs are not accepted on the ride.

Are Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups Kid-Friendly?
Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups are fantastically kid-friendly. They are fast enough to feel daring without ever activating worries about heights a youngster may feel, and there is an element of control in that the speed of the spinning is set by the rider choosing to spin the central node (or not). For smaller people who might not yet be at the point where they can ride anything they like, this is a fun, fast, iconic ride that they are big enough and brave enough to dare and to feel included in.
Motion Sickness
Just as this attraction is so ubiquitous that the “ride type” is simply called “teacups”, Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups and its sister rides in Disney Parks are the conversational gold standard for motion sickness. To wit: “I hope this new ride doesn’t make me motion sick.” “How are you with the Teacups?” This ride is gentle and not at all scary and, ironically, if you have any inclination to motion sickness it would probably be best if you gave this one a pass.
