Attraction Overview
Creating a version of the Disney Parks mainstay, Space Mountain, for Disneyland Paris never meant producing a clone of what already existed elsewhere. The original attraction had a “steampunk” design that called out to the classic science fiction of Jules Verne. While the concept of a roller coaster in darkness remained, guests were launched out of an enormous cannon for an old-timey style rocket trip to the moon.
In 2017, a “temporary” takeover was developed with projections of rebel X-Wings, TIE fighters, Star Destroyers, and more laser blasts than you can shake a lightsaber at. Disney fans are used to holiday and special event attraction takeovers for short periods. Hyperspace Mountain was so wildly popular that it has simply never left, creating an attraction that is an amalgam of styles and possibly the best of both worlds.
Queue and Storyline
As you approach the entrance, you are surrounded by the design stylings of classic French science fiction, both in the original exterior of Hyperspace Mountain and the nearby attraction Les Mystères du Nautilus, just to your right.
Before you have taken many steps through the doors, however, the music has changed to John Williams’ famous film theme, and you are receiving a video briefing from Admiral Ackbar, the brave Mon Calamari commander who led the Rebel Navy in the film Return of the Jedi. Here you learn that you will not just be riding a super-fun roller coaster in the dark, but you will also be on a clandestine mission for the rebellion, with an attack wing of fighters to back you up if Imperial TIE fighters should intrude (spoilers: they will).
Thanks to the magic of video projections, you will be blasted into Hyperspace (out of the original “Jules Verne” canon because… well, reasons) and into a high-speed intergalactic adventure you will never forget!

Is Star Wars: Hyperspace Mountain Kid-Friendly?
You are the real expert on what your kids can handle. There is no “nightmare fuel” on this ride. No primal terror that your child will be describing to a therapist later in life. But, like all of the rides in the “Space Mountain Family”, there is a lot of zipping around in the dark, listening to other people scream. And unlike the others, you will be going upside-down briefly. That’s usually the deal-breaker if anything is. If there is an aversion to inversions, then make sure everybody is clear on what’s happening and see what they want to do.
Motion Sickness
See: Inversions, aversions to; above. If you are the sort of person whose tummy floops watching someone else ride the teacups, you might want to hold off on this one. It’s a challenge for sure. If, on the other hand, you have managed to retain your lunch on one of the other Space Mountains in the world, are easily swayed by arguments like “how often do you get to Paris” or are a huge Star Wars fan, take a ginger chew and strap yourself in!
