Zero to 60 in 2.8 Seconds: Are YOU Brave Enough for Hollywood Studios’ Fastest Ride?

by | Dec 10, 2025 | Disney's Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World

A Disney expert is sharing Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster facts you may not know – including the future of the fastest ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith launches you from 0 to 57 mph in just 2.8 seconds, delivering a thrilling experience like no other on the Disney property! Do you think you can handle the rush? “Walk This Way” as we explore this iconic 25-plus-year ride and prepare to bid farewell once and for all, as it will undergo a Muppets retheming in 2026.

When Did Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Debut?

Located at the end of Sunset Boulevard, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith opened on July 29, 1999, with band members from Aerosmith in attendance.

The dedication was an invitation-only event, and the lucky guests showed up in stretch limos and received complimentary meals and even got to ride the new attraction with one of the band members.

The attraction transformed the landscape of Sunset Boulevard with its impressive 40-foot electric guitar, which welcomes guests as they approach the ride. Aerosmith’s music plays throughout the courtyard and ride queue, creating an electric atmosphere as you head toward the preshow.

In the preshow, you get a glimpse of Aerosmith in the recording studio, complete with a hidden Mickey on the floor, when they learn they are late for their upcoming concert. Guests are then invited to follow them in a limo, racing through Hollywood landmarks while enjoying some of Aerosmith’s most iconic songs.

How many Inversions?

Not only does Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith propel your limo from 0 to 60, it has not one but three (that’s right, three!) inversions, two rollover loops, and one corkscrew.

The Dutch company Vekoma partnered with Disney Imagineers to develop the ride system, which uses magnetic technology to propel the ride vehicles down the track.

Another ride innovation is that each limo boasts 125 speakers, 24 subwoofers, and an impressive 32,000 watts of audio amplification. Over 900 speakers span the 3,403-foot track blasting Aerosmith’s hits, making it truly one of the most exhilarating rides at Disney World

Muppets Take Over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

It is bittersweet to say goodbye to G Force Studios, but the good news is that the thrilling ride will continue to provide the same excitement, twists, and turns, now featuring the beloved Muppets.

The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in the summer of 2026. The new storyline will feature The Electric Mayhem, who will be headlining a Hollywood concert. However, the band is nowhere to be found! Guests will be on a VIP tour of G-Force Records (under Muppets management), where you’ll find the Electric Mayhem, and set forth on an exciting (and fast) journey in a stretch limo! The new scenery will feature landmarks of Haollywood with a Muppets twist, something we are all excited to see.
