Trips to Walt Disney World with my daughter, Amber, have become some of the most meaningful and memorable experiences of my life. Just the two of us, stepping away from real life for a few days of Disney magic. Each visit brings new matching hairstyles, homemade Mickey ears, DOLE Whips, and unforgettable memories—along with the familiar bond of shared, tired feet at the end of a long park day.
Tips for Plussing Your Own Mother-Daughter Disney Trip
Before we even leave the house, the fun begins. We make homemade Mickey ears themed to a holiday, festival, or favorite attraction. From Haunted Mansion ears with glow-in-the-dark ghosts to EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival designs covered in flowers, honey bees, and twinkling lights, you never know what we’ll come up with—but we always have a blast creating them together.

Choosing the right Disney Resort hotel is another big part of the experience. We almost always stay at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, one of our favorite value resorts. Between the bright colors, oversized icons, and access to the Disney Skyliner, it’s the perfect home base for our trips. One of our favorite traditions is seeing which gondola we get–and if we end up with one to ourselves, we turn it into a full sing-along moment. On our last trip, we scored a Princess and the Frog gondola, which quickly turned into an enthusiastic rendition of “Dig a Little Deeper.” Carefree, a little silly, and completely priceless.

Of course, no Disney trip is complete without snacks. A DOLE Whip at Magic Kingdom is non-negotiable. She goes for the classic, and I opt for the float. We usually wander from Adventureland to Frontierland, find a shady porch, and settle in for some of our favorite people-watching moments.
Our snack traditions continue over at EPCOT, where we grab a Mickey Pretzel with cheese from a nearby cart and sit along the wall near The Land pavilion. Somehow, between bites and laughter, those quiet moments often turn into meaningful conversations, sometimes even life decisions.
Plan Your Perfect Park Day
Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are our must-do parks every trip.
At Magic Kingdom, we ride some of our favorite rides, including the PeopleMover, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean. In the evening, we grab some buttery popcorn and watch the Disney World stage show.

EPCOT is what we call our marathon day. We like to ride everything—twice. I know, that makes no sense, but a person needs goals, right? We commonly start the day flying through Soarin’ Around the World and end it cruising through the glowing greenhouse of Living with the Land. We are able to accomplish this feat with the help of Lightning Lane.
By the end of those park days, we often find ourselves collapsed on a bench—hot, exhausted, and with aching feet. But honestly, those might be my favorite moments. Just sitting there with my girl, completely worn out but incredibly happy.
Capturing the Memories with PhotoPass
Of course, I want to remember every moment, which is why Disney PhotoPass is a must on our trips. I happily drag my daughter to every photographer I can find, and the automatic attraction photos never disappoint.

To this day, Amber makes an “oh!” face whenever she goes downhill on a roller coaster, all because of my own scared face years ago on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
Start a Meaningful Disney Tradition
One of our most meaningful traditions is riding “it’s a small world.” I ride it for my mother, who loved it dearly. Every time we float past those singing dolls, I’m transported back to childhood memories of her pointing out her favorites.

A tear in my eye and a smile on my face, it’s the kind of memory that hurts and heals at the same time. Makes me glad I am getting to experience the same ride with my daughter.

These mother-daughter trips to Walt Disney World may leave us tired, sweaty, and occasionally a little annoyed with each other, but they fill my heart in a way nothing else can.
