If you want to find the most walkable Disney World Resort hotel, we’re ranking them from worst to best! These are the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT Resorts that are within walking distance — and how they rank.
There’s no denying that the transportation options at Disney World can be rides within themselves. I know for our family, my daughter would happily hop on the Monorail or Skyliner and just take the full loop for the day.
However, as a parent to these kids, my ideal form of transportation is always walking. Walking to the parks helps to avoid lengthy waits for the transportation options, especially first thing in the morning or last thing at night. And for many of the Magic Kingdom area or EPCOT area resorts, walking is very doable, with the EPCOT resorts even within walking distance of both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The Most Walkable Disney World Resorts
So let’s get this out of the way first – anything within walking distance at all is inherently going to be convenient, no matter what. However, some of these resorts are closer than others, or allow access to multiple parks pretty easily, which is hard to beat. We’re ranking all the Disney World hotels within walking distance of at least one park, from the worst to the best.
Walt Disney World Swan Reserve Hotel

- Closest Parks: Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT
The Swan Reserve is technically walkable to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, but the stroll is on the longer side, especially compared to the Disney-owned resorts, and even the Swan and Dolphin. Guests often walk to the main Swan and Dolphin area first, then continue along the pathways to the parks, adding time and reducing convenience. The route is still scenic, but if true door-to-gate ease is your priority, this one ranks pretty low on the list.
Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort
- Closest Parks: Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT
While closer than the Swan Reserve, the Swan and Dolphin are both further away from EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios than the Yacht and Beach Club or BoardWalk Inn. Expect roughly 10 to 20 minutes to EPCOT’s International Gateway and around 15 to 25 minutes to Hollywood Studios, depending on your starting point. The wide, waterside paths are pleasant, but the distance puts these hotels below the Disney-owned Crescent Lake properties. That being said, you also have boat service to consider, which can speed things along.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

- Closest Park: Magic Kingdom
The Polynesian is walkable to Magic Kingdom, but it’s a longer path around the lagoon, closer to a casual 25 to 35 minute stroll. It’s a beautiful walk, just not the most efficient one. Realistically, most guests rely on the monorail or resort boats for faster transportation, especially considering the fact that it’s right next door to the Transportation and Ticket Center (making it ideal for a Magic Kingdom Resort that will have an easier time getting to EPCOT). Still, having the option to walk, especially at off-peak times, keeps the Poly in the walkability conversation.
Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
- Closest Parks: Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT
Yacht Club is one of the more walk-friendly resorts in the EPCOT area. EPCOT’s International Gateway is just a short 5 to 10 minute walk away, and Hollywood Studios is usually 10 to 15 minutes along the waterway. The stroll is shaded, scenic, and straightforward, ideal for guests who love entering EPCOT through World Showcase before most crowds arrive. Plus, you’re just a short distance from the Disney Skyliner, as well as the Friendship Boats. These give you great alternatives to get where you need to go, whether it’s other resorts or the parks.
Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

- Closest Park: Magic Kingdom
With the new Island Tower, the Polynesian gains a second entry on this list, and this building brings guests a few minutes closer to the Magic Kingdom walkway compared to the main resort. This location is right next to the Grand Floridian, so it’s easier to pop onto the walkway and head over to Magic Kingdom. That being said, one thing to consider is the fact that Island Tower itself doesn’t have monorail access, meaning you’ll need to head over to the Grand Ceremonial House at the main Polynesian building for monorail entry.
Disney’s Beach Club Resort
- Closest Parks: Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT
Beach Club offers nearly unbeatable EPCOT access; you can be at the International Gateway in roughly 5–7 minutes. Hollywood Studios is a bit farther, but still walkable, usually 12 to 15 minutes along the canal path. Its close proximity to EPCOT, especially for festivals and World Showcase dining, gives Beach Club a slight edge over its sister resort, Yacht Club.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

The Grand Floridian walkway to Magic Kingdom clocks in at roughly 10 to 14 minutes, making it the second-most convenient walking resort for MK access. The path is bright, open, and feels direct, especially for rope-drop mornings. Plus, you’re still connected to the monorail, providing even more flexibility. It’s the best blend of luxury and walkability on the monorail loop.
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
- Closest Parks: Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT
BoardWalk Inn edges ahead of Beach Club thanks to its balanced accessibility: It’s incredibly close to EPCOT and slightly more central for the Hollywood Studios walk. Expect about 5 to 10 minutes to EPCOT and 12 to 15 minutes to Hollywood Studios. The walk along the BoardWalk and canal is lively, scenic, and ideal for guests who like to stroll after dinner. It’s one of the best overall locations on the property.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort

The Contemporary is the second-best walking resort — a true standout with a dedicated path leading directly to Magic Kingdom. The walk typically takes just 5 to 10 minutes, and you’ll go through a security checkpoint along the path, often saving time compared to the main entrance. It’s the most convenient resort for Magic Kingdom access outside of its neighboring tower.
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Bay Lake Tower takes the crown thanks to its unmatched proximity to Magic Kingdom. Sitting even closer to the walkway than the main Contemporary building, many guests can reach the park gates in as little as 4 to 8 minutes. It’s the quickest, smoothest, and most consistently reliable walking route on Disney property. Paired with its private skybridge access to the Contemporary and monorail, Bay Lake Tower is the ultimate resort for guests who want to walk to Magic Kingdom with minimal effort.
