Did you know you could use Marriott Bonvoy points at Disney World? Learn more about how the process works to book your hotel.

Do you collect Marriott Bonvoy points or other hotel reward points? Redeeming points is an excellent way to stay in the Disney bubble or a nearby Good Neighbor hotel without spending a fortune. The Swan, Swan Reserve, and Dolphin hotels are Marriott-owned properties in Disney. If you collect Bonvoy points, you can use them to stay at these hotels and many good neighborhood hotels around Disney property. 

Marriott Bonvoy at Disney World

As a Bonvoy point collector, staying at a deluxe resort within the Disney bubble for little to no cost has transformed my Disney adventures. My obsession with Disney means I am constantly planning my next trip. Since I haven’t won the lottery yet, I must strategically budget for each Disney World vacation. Saving up points has allowed my family to save money on our trips, take advantage of one or two free nights, or cover a significant portion of our stay with points.

How to Earn Marriott Bonvoy Points 

You can earn additional points with a Bonvoy credit card. While I’m not familiar with that specifically, I can share my family’s experiences with our Bonvoy membership. Joining is free; simply sign up on the Bonvoy website. After registering, you’ll receive a membership number and can download the app. The app is like any other travel app, like Expedia.  Depending on your device, you can add your membership QR code to your phone’s wallet for easy access. 

You earn points by staying at Marriott Hotels, affiliated properties, and through various Marriott partners. Some stays at different hotels can earn you bonus points, helping you rack up these points faster. The number of points you earn for each stay varies by hotel. The app will track your points and display a running total on your home page. For every $1 spent at a partnering hotel or affiliate, you could earn around 10 points. Again, this will vary, and you can always refer to your app to determine the points you’ll earn. 

My son plays on a travel sports team, so we frequently stay in hotels for tournaments. We always use our app to find hotels in the area and book our stays through the Bonvoy app to earn points. When my husband travels for business, he also books his hotels through the same app to accumulate points.

Even if you don’t have a child involved in travel sports or a family member who travels for business, there are still many ways to earn points with a Bonvoy membership. For instance, using Uber Eats or taking an Uber can qualify you for points. You can earn points on rental cars and other non-Disney vacations as well. 

Redeeming Points to Stay in Disney World 

As you accumulate points, you can book directly through the app at any of the three Marriott Hotels on Disney property: the Swan Reserve, Swan, or Dolphin Resorts. You also have the option to stay at any of the good neighbor hotels. To explore available hotels, search within the app and select the points option to see how many points are required for each location. If you don’t have enough points to cover the total cost, you can use your points to pay a reduced price. 

One year, my family booked a two-night stay at the Dolphin Resort through the app. Although we didn’t have enough points to cover the entire cost, we could use our points, which reduced our total expense to only $40 plus taxes for the two nights. It’s a fantastic way to experience the Disney bubble while enjoying the benefits of a deluxe resort. We have also recently earned enough points for a free night at the Swan for our next visit.

Starting to collect points is always a great idea, and it’s never too late to join a reward program. Whether through Bonvoy or other travel rewards programs. By providing significant cost savings, you can enhance your Disney World trips. Happy collecting!
