Disney World Reveals Big Changes Coming for Genie+ and Lightning Lanes

by | Jun 25, 2024 | Genie+, Vacation Planning, Walt Disney World

Big changes are coming for Disney Genie+. The paid FastPass+ replace first debuted in 2021, and has undergone several major updates over the years. But beginning next month, the service will undergo its biggest change yet, with a name change and major updates on how it will be implemented.

Disney Genie+ Will Become Lightning Lane Multi Pass

Beginning July 24, 2024, Disney Genie+ will officially be known as Lightning Lane Multi Pass. The free version of Disney Genie will remain the same, but now you will have Lightning Lane Multi Pass, while individual Lightning Lane will now be known as Lightning Lane Single Pass.

How the service works will also be changing, giving guests the ability to make their reservations in advance. Starting July 24, you’ll have the ability to book Lightning Lane passes for multiple vacation days in one single day.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass

Lightning Lane Multi Pass will be available prior to your vacation, giving you the availability to make up to three Lightning Lane selections in a theme park ahead of your visit through the My Disney Experience app.

Guests staying at a Disney World Resort hotel (or select other hotels) can make their Lightning Lane passes up to seven days in advance of their trip for their entire stay (up to fourteen days). All other guests can plan up to three days in advance. They will all have the ability to buy a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, a Lightning Lane Single Pass, or both.

When it comes to selecting your rides, the new system will utilize First Group and Second Group. Guests can select up to three Lightning Lane selections per day within two groups: one from the first grouping of our more popular attractions and two from the rest of the available attractions (at all parks minus Animal Kingdom).
