About La Nouba
Cirque du Soleil La Nouba is a great example of what they do best, and Disney Springs is the only place on earth where you can see it!
If you pay attention to the Cirque du Soleil La Nouba advertising at Walt Disney World, you’ll notice a funny looking girl dressed a little like a bird on all the posters – that’s one of the stars of the show, the Green Bird. She’s a circus performer who joins other characters like Titan the muscle man, the foolish Cons, the Chaplain-inspired Walker, the Pierrot and Lost Ballerina Dancers, the clowns Balthazar and Sergei,Cleaning Woman who sweeps her dreams into reality, and a host of other acrobats.
The show highlights two groups – the colorful circus performers in their neon costumes with custom wigs, headpieces, and masks, and the subdued urbanites in blacks, grays, and muted colors wearing natural textured fabrics.
The two groups intertwine as the audience is treated to acts like jump rope, high wire, diablos, cycling tricks, aerial cradle, aerial silk ballet, juggling, flying trapeze, powertrack and trampoline. Add live music and a circus tent over 150 feet tall and you’ve got the biggest Cirque spectacle of all!
History
Cirque du Soleil (in English, that’s “Circus of the Sun”) was founded by 2 Canadian former street performers in Montreal, Quebec in 1984. Today, it’s one of the best-known names in entertainment around the world and has dozens of shows touring the globe each year, along with a handful of permanent shows in Las Vegas, and La Nouba, which is permanently staged at Walt Disney World.
Cirque du Soleil La Nouba opened on December 23, 1998 and has performed over 6000 shows to date.
