The Coronado Springs Resort is a beautiful resort from the outside. It has beautiful breezeways reminiscent of the great Southwest. It’s also a very large resort. There are 1,877 rooms over 13 buildings scattered around the complex. Some are as far as half a mile from the main building. The resort offers an internal shuttle via golf carts that run between the resort buildings.

Disney’s Coronado Springs is one of Disney’s moderate resorts. It’s also the most unique. (Unique doesn’t always equate to best.) When Disney built this resort they worked at making it a convention destination. So they did things a little differently. They put some convention space right alongside the main lobby. They also made some changes to the way the food court works and put a top of the line restaurant inside the resort. (Again, I say, unique is not always better.)

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Overview

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a massive Moderate Resort property themed with influences from Spanish, Mexican, and Southwest American themes. The resort is circled around a 22-acre lake, with diffrent sections of the hotel including Casitas, Cabanas, and Ranchos.

The newest addition is Gran Destino Tower, a 15-story tower with Deluxe Resort-level amenities. The property is known for catering to both vacationers and convention-goers, due to its sprawling convention space. Some of the highlights of the property include its dining, which includes Maya Grill, known for its Nuevo Latino cuisine, and Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood, which offers stunning rooftop views. Additionally, its home to the Dig Site, a Mayan-themed pool area with a waterslide and the largest hot tub at Disney World.

As you can see, the Convention Center is also a large part of the Coronado Springs property. This large area makes Coronado Springs a prime spot for large gatherings or events on Walt Disney World property.

Room Types

There are several different types of rooms you can book at Coronado Springs. Ranchos, Casitas, and the Cabanas offer your typical Moderate and Value Resort entry, with motel-style entry from the outside into your room. The majority of room types sleep up to four adults, or two with a King Bed. You’ll find the following room types:

• Standard Room (available with a Standard View, Water View, or King Bed)
• Preferred Room (Available with a Standard View, Water View, or King Bed)
• 1 Bedroom Suite (Available in the Casitas area, sleeps up to six adults)
• Executive Suite (Available in the Casitas area, sleeps up to eight adults)

Gran Destino Tower is a bit different, as its all interior and comes with what are considered more “Deluxe”-level amenities. This includes more luxurious rooms, as well as dining options found right inside the building. The majority of room types sleep up to four adults, or two with a King Bed. These are the room type options:

• Standard Tower Room (Available in Standard View and Water View, with the option of a King Bed for either)
• Deluxe Suite 1 Bedroom Suite (Sleeps up to four adults) Presidential Suite (Sleeps up to six adults)

Transportation

Looking to get to the parks? There is just one option here: a bus. The resort is particularly massive, so you’ll also want to prepare for internal bus loops. What this means is that there are bus stops throughout the resort, so you’ll find one closer to your specific room. Both going to and coming back from the parks, the bus will stop at each of these bus stops.
