Cosmic Rewind is the ultimate “trust me, this ride is actually cool” option. It’s fast, smooth, disorienting in the best way, and backed by a rotating lineup of throwback songs that older kids will love. The 360-degree spinning coaster cars and the giant Marvel tie-in make it feel modern and exciting.
There’s nothing tame or “kiddie ride” about this story coaster, which starts with a backwards launch and only gets more thrilling from there. The ride also calls for multiple visits, as each ride can come backed by a different song (there are six different variations in total).
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Even if they claim they’re “over Disney,” Rise of the Resistance is bigger than any theme-park ride they’ve experienced before – trust us. The multi-part attraction sees guests captured by the First Order, escaping in a trackless ride vehicle inside a larger-than-life ride. The sets are enormous, and there’s enough thrills through every part of the ride that it’s sure to impress even the most sullen of teens.

When kids age out of the cuter parts of Disney, they often crave something spookier, darker, or more thrilling. Luckily, Tower of Terror delivers on all three. Your kids won’t need to know the first thing about The Twilight Zone to enjoy the ride (though it’s even more fun if they do!).
The macabre storyline and setting lead to a truly thrilling ride, with multiple sequences that can be intense even for adults (my husband went on once and refuses to go again). The build-up is just scary enough to spark some adrenaline, and the random drops guarantee a different ride every time, perfect for kids who want something with extra attitude.
Expedition Everest
Expedition Everest is a coaster that feels big, fast, and legitimately thrilling, making it perfect for older kids who want something closer to a “real” roller coaster. While you may not get the loops and corkscrews of a coaster you’d find at Six Flags, the immersive story and sets more than make up for it.
And that’s not to say there aren’t plenty of thrills! The climb up the mountain, the broken track, and the backwards plunge all combine into a high-intensity ride that still fits the Disney storytelling mold.
