The Worst Disney World Rides for Kids Who Get Motion Sick

by | Dec 15, 2025 | Walt Disney World

If you are visiting Disney World with kids who suffer from motion sickness, these are the rides you will definitely want to avoid on your trip.

There’s nothing that can more quickly ruin your trip at Disney World than motion sickness. If you have a kid who is prone to it, or maybe you suffer from it yourself, you know that that feeling of queasiness can easily throw off your entire day. And, while Disney World may have plenty of kid-friendly rides, even attractions kids love can cause motion sickness.

Disney World Rides That May Make You Motion Sick

Whether it’s due to twists and turns or 3-D features, these are the Disney World rides to look out for if you or your kids easily get motion sick.

Mission: SPACE

If your child is even slightly prone to motion sickness, this is the top one to avoid. Mission: SPACE allows you to step into your own space shuttle, launching you off in a highly realistic simulation to rocket into space. The ride is so well known for causing motion sickness that it actually offers two versions: Orange Mission and Green Mission.

Orange Mission uses spinning centrifuges to simulate the intense G-forces of an actual rocket launch. If anyone in your group gets even slightly queasy from motion sickness, avoid at all costs. The Green Mission is far more tame, removing the spinning. However, the ride vehicle is still a fairly claustrophobic one, so if small spaces are a problem for you, then you may want to skip either version.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Even if you are someone who doesn’t typically get motion sick from a roller coaster, this is a ride you may want to think twice about. You see, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind isn’t any normal coaster – the vehicle actually rotates and spins on the track. The unpredictable rotation can pretty easily upset sensitive stomachs.

Star Tours – The Adventure Continues

This 3D motion simulator jerks and tilts in sync with the screen, making it feel like you’re flying through space. It’s a fun Star Wars experience, but it’s a recipe for nausea if your child is sensitive to motion, especially with the combination of 3D visuals and erratic movement.

While Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is also a motion simulator, it takes 3D glasses out of the equation, meaning it may be the better Star Wars experience of the two to try with your family.

Mad Tea Party

No ride has made my husband look quite as green as a trip accompanying my daughter on Mad Tea Party. The classic Disney World attraction is a staple for childhood memories – but it can also be a recipe for disaster if you are prone to motion sickness.

The constant spinning, especially if your child (or an older sibling) insists on cranking the wheel, can make even the strongest stomachs flip. The good news is that, while there is some natural spinning with the cups, the riders really control the speed and intensity. So if you have weaker stomachs in your group, take things easy (easier said then done with kids, we know).

Alien Swirling Saucers

Another spinning ride, Alien Swirling Saucers, is a bit more tame than Mad Tea Party – though it doesn’t allow the same control, either. Alien Swirling Saucers is a whip-type ride, meaning you’ll be whipped around the attraction, spinning to the Toy Story-themed music. In my experience, the motion is far more gentle than the spinning of Mad Tea Party, but still may be a bit too intense if you are especially sensitive to spinning motions.

Avatar – Flight of Passage

Beautiful and immersive, yes—but also one of the most motion-heavy simulator rides at Disney World. The sensation of diving, soaring, and banking on the back of a banshee can leave motion-sensitive riders feeling lightheaded or queasy. Personally, I have found the motions to be a lot gentler and more in sync than something like Star Tours, making it easier to handle.

Still, if 3D glasses are typically a no-go for you, this may be harder to handle. To help better situate yourself, make sure to look to your side, where you can see other ride vehicles and the edges of the screen. It’ll lose the immersion, but can help keep you more grounded if you ever feel disoriented.
