The Carousel of Progress may not be flashy, but for families who need a break from the chaos, it’s perfect. There’s never a long wait, the theater is air-conditioned, and the slow-moving scenes of American life through the decades are oddly mesmerizing for kids.
I’ll be honest: This pick is really more for us parents than our kids. Only adults will appreciate the 20-minute sit-down (though kids may get into the catchy “Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” tune that somehow sticks in your head in the best way possible). I will admit that Living with the Land can feel a bit dated, just like Carousel of Progress. But here, kids will find there’s more “classic Disney World” to enjoy, as this attraction is both a dark ride and lesson in one, offering the best of both worlds.
Journey Into Imagination with Figment
Yes, today’s kids likely won’t get their parents’ Figment obsession. But it’s still worth taking them on Journey Into Imagination with Figment, particularly if you need a ride that’s quick, wait-free, and kid-approved. You can usually walk right on to this one, and kids do adore it, for the most part.
Figment, the mischievous little purple dragon, leads families through a silly, sensory-filled adventure that’s just the right amount of weird and wonderful. For parents, it’s a quick, air-conditioned escape that never feels rushed or crowded — and there’s a play area at the exit if your kids need to keep the fun going while you catch your breath.
Kilimanjaro Safaris

If you’re hoping to entertain the kids (and yourself) by catching Animal Kingdom’s animals at their most active, Kilimanjaro Safaris is a ride that’s worth doing early in the day or later in the evening when the animals are most active and the line is shortest.
The constantly loading safari trucks move quickly, and once you’re on board, it’s a long, engaging ride that keeps kids’ attention the entire time. Parents love that it’s thrilling yet calm — a real ride with zero chaos — and the ever-changing views of giraffes, elephants, and lions make it feel fresh every time.
