Why FuelRods Are Worth the Money in Disney World

by | Aug 4, 2025 | Walt Disney World

One Disney expert shares why they think rechargeable FuelRods are Disney World are very much worth the money they cost.

Let’s be honest: having a phone handy during your days at the Disney Parks is essential. It’s equally important to keep your device charged. Here’s why you should consider purchasing a Fuel Rod for your next Disney trip.

You’re On Your Device All Day

Since the My Disney Experience App came along, having your device in the parks has become a must for making the most of your day!

You can easily mobile order your meals, manage your dining reservations, book your Lightning Lanes, check wait times, and so much more. All of these features can really drain your battery, so you’ll need to be prepared to give your device a little recharge throughout the day. You might not always have time to sit and wait at a portable charging station.

You Can Buy Them in Advance (for Cheaper!)

I’ve always brought a portable charging device on my Disney trips; it’s solar-powered and bulky, but it does the trick, allowing me to charge my phone when the battery is getting low. On my last trip, despite creating and checking multiple packing lists, I still forgot my portable charger. I knew we would need a charging device, and at our first park of the trip (Hollywood Studios), right inside Celebrity 5 & 10, was a handy FuelRod station.

A quick search on the app will show you all the locations throughout the parks and resorts where you can purchase them. You can also proactively buy a FuelRod from Amazon ahead of your trip, just make sure to pack it!

It’s Convenient and Easy

A FuelRod costs $38 plus tax. Once you purchase one, you can exchange it an unlimited number of times. Using the FuelRod is very simple; it comes fully charged and ready to use, along with all the necessary attachments that are compatible with both Android and iPhone devices. It is also lightweight and easy to replace when it runs out.

I swapped my FuelRod many times during my trip, and it was incredibly convenient, making a significant difference in my park day. It also charged my device very quickly.  I didn’t have to worry about keeping my portable charging device charged, as soon as the FuelRod was out of power, I’d swap it for a fully charged one.  You can also find Fuel Rod stations right at Orlando Airport, and depending on your location, there are FuelRod locations across the United States.

It was totally worth it, and the money was well spent, in my opinion. I can’t imagine going to Disney again without a Fuel Rod. I’ll definitely use it on all my future trips!
