Parents, you’re going to want to buy this souvenir – or bring it along to the parks if you already own it.

While a Disney World or Disneyland visit is supposed to be an amazing experience, anyone who’s met a toddler knows it can go from fun and carefree to filled with tears in seconds. Even in the happiest and most magical places on Earth, toddlers can melt down, throw tantrums, and easily get overwhelmed.

But, as a toddler parent – and Disney expert – myself, I’ve found there’s a surefire tool that can stop the tantrums and bring back the joy. Best of all, you can buy it at any Disney theme park.

The secret to a tantrum-free toddler when you’re visiting Disney World, Disneyland, or any other Disney Parks destination? It’s those ubiquitous bubble wands.

Disney’s Bubble Wands Are Pure Toddler Magic

I have yet to meet a toddler who doesn’t love bubbles. Blowing bubbles, watching electric bubble wands, running through swaths of bubbles – the under-3 set just can’t get enough bubbles. And let’s be honest: Odds are you’ve attended enough toddler events that feature a ton of bubbles since becoming a parent.

At Disney World and Disneyland, you’ll find bubbles everywhere. Shops, carts, and stands throughout each theme park sell bubble wands, and as you walk from attraction to attraction, you’ll likely wind up in a haze of bubbles thanks to kids who are continuously pressing that bubble-making button on a wand of their own.

Pre-kids, I didn’t understand the allure of the Disney Parks bubble wand. But now, I’ve realized they’re a must-have.

Hand a toddler a bubble wand shaped like Mickey Mouse (or Buzz Lightyear, or Mickey’s iconic sorcerer’s hat, or Ariel), and they’ll become transformed. The crying stops. The screaming and shrieking quiets. The combination of lights and bubbles is perfect, and it’s captivating,

Best of all, the bubble wands are made for little users. With the flip of a switch (which parents can handle) and the press of a toddler-sized button, kids can control their very own stream of happiness-inducing bubbles. 

I’ve handed my toddler a bubble wand when he’s melting down mid-meal in the middle of a restaurant, when an unexpectedly long wait time pushed him into crankiness, and when we’re waiting for characters and parades. Every time, it works like a charm to capture his attention and stop tears in their tracks.

Plus, what toddler doesn’t get a kick out of creating a little DIY parade at Disney World or Disneyland with their very own bubble stream? I know there’s little that brings my son joy like watching others smile at his unending bubbles, especially if he can use his wand in crowded queues.

You’ll Get Hours of Entertainment for Your Money (and Bubble Refills)

There’s one drawback to the magic of Disney’s bubble wands: The price.

Bubble wands aren’t the cheapest souvenirs, and many options – like the iconic Mickey that lights up and generates a stream of bubbles – can cost you about $30. Prices range from $27 to $35, depending on how fancy your toddler wants to get. 

$30 can be a lot for what seems like a one-time-use toy, but I’m here to tell you it’s absolutely a price worth paying. 

In my experience, the bubble wands are a special day-of souvenir at a Disney theme park. But once you get home, that souvenir turns into an everyday toy that can bring a lot of joy for your toddler… and some great outdoor fun for parents that can offer entertainment in your own yard.

My toddler can’t get enough of his bubble wand – in fact, I have to hide it at home because the second he spots those iconic Mickey ears, he starts asking for bubbles. We can spend entire afternoons outside as he plays with the bubble wands, and for $5, it can be refilled again and again with a giant store-bought bottle of bubbles. 

Don’t want to pay full price for a Disney-branded bubble wand in the parks? I highly recommend shopping for Disney bubble wands online to save some cash. You can find identical wands at the Disney Store and Amazon, and they’re often discounted or on sale. 

Buy one (or a couple, if your toddler is prone to breaking them… or throwing them out of the stroller) and you’ll have it ready to go without paying those in-park prices. 

Disney Bubble Wands Make Calming Magic at Home, Too

In addition to creating a little of that Disney bubble magic at home, those wands also work some toddler-calming magic once you leave the theme parks. 

While tantrums are always easier to manage at home, a Disney bubble wand can bring levity anywhere. Dinnertime meltdown? I break out the bubble wand and light up the kitchen, and laughter always follows. Grumpiness a problem after being told no? It’s not a problem if I can redirect that toddler frustration with some bubbles. Tears and sobbing because mom has to go back to work? That Mickey-shaped bubble wand will have my son clapping in under 60 seconds.

Ultimately, while I’ve purchased a lot of expensive Disney Parks souvenirs over the years, bubble wands aren’t one I regret. Sure, they’re pricey, and they might seem like they have a pretty limited use case. 

But I’d spend the $30-plus again and again, simply because they’re both entertaining for my toddler and plenty of fun at home.

And yes, when we’ve forgotten to pack our Mickey Mouse bubble wand for a Disneyland visit, I’ve absolutely considered buying another… even for no other reason than trying to stop a meltdown in the moment.
