Disney World is absolutely massive, home to four theme parks, two water parks, a shopping and dining district, and dozens of hotels. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that, from time to time, areas of the resort need to close to undergo some TLC. To help you better plan your trip, we’re sharing a complete guide to the Disney World refurbishment schedule that is currently planned in 2026 and beyond, so you won’t have any surprises during your vacation!

Magic Kingdom Refurbishments and Closures
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad:Â Now open
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Range Spin: Now open
- Cars Land: Date TBA – construction began in 2025

- Carousel of Progress:Â Closing July 6, 2026, reopening in 2027
- Frontierland Train Station:Â Closed beginning July 2025
Carousel of Progress will be closing for new scenes and a Walt Disney Audio Animatronic beginning July 6, 2026, with plans to reopen in 2027. Over in Frontierland, construction is ongoing on a new Cars area, which led to the closure of Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat in July 2025. A new Disney Villains land is also planned, but no dates have been announced.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Refurbishments and Closures
- Monsters, Inc. Land:Â Opening date TBA – construction began in 2025
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Now open
- The Magic of Disney Animation:Â Opening late summer 2026
A few major changes are taking place over the next few years at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In the summer of 2025, Muppets Courtyard closed to make way for a new Monsters, Inc.-themed land.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster was also just recently reimagined to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, which is now open.
Over at the previous Animation Courtyard, a makeover has taken place to become The Walt Disney Studios. It has opened in phases with a new new Disney Jr. show, as well as the previously opened The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure. In late summer 2026, it will be joined by the new The Magic of Disney Animation attraction, taking the place of the former home of Star Wars: Launch Bay.

- It’s Tough to Be a Bug: Permanently closed
- DINOSAUR:Â Closed February 2, 2026
- The Boneyard:Â Permanently closed September 2, 2025
- TriceraTop Spin: Permanently closed January 13, 2025
- Dino-Rama Area: Permanently closed January 13, 2025
DinoLand, U.S.A. is slowly beginning its transformation to a new Tropical Americas land this year. The transformation will happen in phases, with TriceraTop Spin and the whole Dino-Rama area closed January 13, 2025, while DINOSAUR closed on February 2, 2026.
EPCOT Refurbishments and Closures
- Soarin’ Across America:Â Opened May 26, 2026
On May 26, 2026, the newest iteration of Soarin’, Soarin’ Across America, debuted in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States. The newly updated ride will feature landmarks across the country, including cityscapes and the Grand Canyon.
Water Park Refurbishments and Closures
- Blizzard Beach: Reopened February 15, 2026
- Typhoon Lagoon: Reopened May 12, 2026
For the summer of 2026, both water parks will be open.
Disney World Resort Hotel Refurbishments and Closures
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
- Resort Refurbishments:Â Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Villas are currently undergoing refurbishment, with a redesigned lobby and rooms. Guests may hear or see construction, though not between dusk and 9 AM.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Resort Refurbishments:Â Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is currently undergoing refurbishment, with a redesigned lobby and rooms. Guests may hear or see construction, though not between dusk and 9 AM.
Disney World Transportation Refurbishments and Closures
