Sailing Ship Columbia

by | Aug 11, 2024 | Disneyland, Disneyland Attractions, Disneyland Park, Frontierland

Take a trip down the Rivers of America on a full-scale replica of the Columbia, a majestic ship from the 18th century that took roughly three years to sail around the world. Disneyland’s version, the Sailing Ship Columbia, stretches 110 feet long, is fully rigged, and offers plenty to explore from its decks, including scenery along the riverbanks and touches onboard like towering masts, cannons, and deck-mounted guns.

Is Sailing Ship Columbia Kid-Friendly?

Sailing Ship Columbia is definitely kid-friendly, with no height or age restrictions and plenty of space to check out the river scenery from multiple decks and vantage points. Plus, its 18th-century theming will make kids feel like they’re riding on a true pirate ship (and, if they’ve seen Fantasmic!, they’ll really think it’s one).

While older kids like tweens and teens may not find Sailing Ship Columbia thrilling enough for their tastes, this is a great slow-moving ride for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age kids who love anything in motion.

Best For: Anyone who loves a scenic boat ride or younger kids who are best suited to slower-paced attractions.

Will Sailing Ship Columbia Cause Motion Sickness?

Like its sister ship the Mark Twain Riverboat, the Sailing Ship Columbia moves at a very slow pace and features no movement that should spark motion sickness (or seasickness-like results).
