Attraction Overview
It’s a Frontierland tradition! Similar shooting arcades to Disneyland Paris’ Rustler Roundup Shootin’ Gallery can be found in Disneyland (Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition), in Tokyo Disneyland (Westernland Shootin’ Gallery) and, until recently in Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World (Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade). In each case it is one of the only attractions to charge an additional fee, which makes playing feel somewhat counterintuitive, given that you have already paid to do everything else but get a haircut on Main Street USA, but you do you.
Depositing 3 Euros will get you approximately 25 shots at a western town filled with targets that register hits from your infra-red beam and react by falling down, bouncing up or exploding. Young players are advised not to shoot wildly “scattergun-style”, but pick your targets carefully, unless they feel comfortable asking Dad for another 3 Euros almost immediately.
Queue and Storyline
There are 20 rifles available at any given time at Rustler Roundup Shootin’ Gallery, so while there is no formal queue, there may be a certain amount of standing and waiting your turn, but it shouldn’t take long. The 74 targets displayed include a plethora of western cliches; a mine with minecars, many cacti, a travelling medicine show wagon and the very poorly buried coffins of Boot Hill, most of which will respond to a hit with some interactive action that every kid nearby with a rifle will claim credit for, but they all seem to be having fun.

Is Rustler Roundup Shootin’ Gallery Kid-Friendly?
Rustler Roundup Shootin’ Gallery is kid-friendly, in that it is not scary in the least. It may frustrate some players as there is no “scoring” that definitely links the reaction of an interactive target to a particular player, and thus no way to prove definitively that they have finally defeated their older brother.
There is also the question of the casual normalization of gun use, which is one of the motivations behind the removal of the shooting gallery from Magic Kingdom. This is something that parents can struggle with, but no matter what your point of view on the subject is, it isn’t going to stop your son from picking up a stick from the yard and yelling “bang bang!”
Let’s just leave that call to individual Disney Moms and Dads, but whether or not you choose to participate, Rustler Roundup Shootin’ Gallery is old-fashioned fun for kids and tweens.
