The Disney Destiny has officially arrived in Port Canaveral! Learn more about the celebration that took place for this momentous event.
After a two-week-long transatlantic journey, the Disney Destiny is finally in Florida! The heroes-and-villains-themed ship is the latest cruising option from Disney Cruise Line, with its maiden voyage taking place on November 20 from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. And ahead of that, Disney celebrated the latest milestone from the ship, as it sailed into Port Canaveral before heading to its homeport.
Disney Destiny Arrives in Florida
The ship was built in Germany by Meyer Werft, where it celebrated a float-out in August. The ship’s arrival was met by Hero Minnie, who will be featured onboard the boat, alongside a crowd of over 250 cast members.

The arrival celebration also included a special preview of a Disney Destiny-exclusive ship horn, an arrangement of “Go the Distance” inspired by the ship’s Broadway-style show Disney Hercules. Now, the ship will spend the next few weeks preparing to welcome guests on board for its maiden voyage in just a few weeks.
Discover Your Destiny Initiative
Along with the ship’s arrival, Disney has announced their new Discover Your Destiny Initiative. The new program is “committed to creating positive impacts in schools across port communities in Florida and The Bahamas.”
During the Disney Destiny’s inaugural season, Disney Cruise Line creative professionals will bring interactive experiences to classrooms, highlighting a range of possible entertainment careers, including acting and behind-the-scenes work.
