There’s a reason Disney Cruise Line consistently ranks as one of the best cruise vacations for families—especially those with kids. From bow to stern, Disney ships are filled with magic, imagination, and world-class entertainment that caters specifically to younger travelers. While the cruise line offers plenty of grown-up luxuries, Disney Cruise Line really shines when it comes to delighting kids—and that’s especially true when it comes to its shows.

Whether your child is a Broadway buff in training, a die-hard Marvel fan, or someone who just wants to dance with Mickey, there’s something for every age group on board. Each ship offers original productions, character-driven performances, and immersive entertainment options that are among the best at sea—or anywhere, really.

Disney Cruise Line Entertainment Overview

Every Disney Cruise Line ship is home to its own signature entertainment, including Broadway-style productions that play in stunning onboard theaters. These shows are custom-produced for each ship and are designed to appeal to a wide range of ages. While some are inspired by beloved Disney films like Frozen and Beauty and the Beast, others are original creations that bring the ship’s unique personality to life.

Beyond the mainstage shows, Disney cruises also feature daily character encounters, pirate-themed deck parties, movie screenings, and interactive game shows. The best part? Most of it is included in the cost of your cruise.

Here’s a ship-by-ship breakdown of the best entertainment for kids currently available—or coming soon—on Disney Cruise Line.

Disney Treasure Shows

The Disney Treasure made its debut in 2024, making it the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet (until later this year, that is!). The Treasure brings a whole new lineup of entertainment options.

• Disney The Tale of Moana: Exclusive to the Treasure, Disney The Tale of Moana marks the first time Moana takes the stage in a Disney Cruise Line production. With its adventurous story, oceanic visuals, and music from Lin-Manuel Miranda, it’s sure to capture the imaginations of younger cruisers. Expect vibrant sets and an empowering message that resonates with kids.
• Beauty and the Beast: Based on the animated classic, this Broadway-style adaptation is both familiar and grand. Little ones will love seeing Belle, Lumière, and the Beast in live-action splendor, while older kids may be impressed by the dazzling stagecraft.
• Disney Seas the Adventure: This lively embarkation night show features Captain Minnie, Goofy, and other classic characters. It’s upbeat, funny, and sets the tone for a fun-filled voyage.

Best for: Ages 4 and up; kids who love Disney princesses, musical adventures, or are fans of Moana.

Disney Wish Shows

The Disney Wish, which debuted in 2022, brought a whole new level of theatrical design to the fleet. It’s home to three original stage shows:

• Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular: A crowd-pleaser with impressive sets, songs you know by heart, and a scene-stealing Genie. It’s one of the more kid-friendly takes on a Broadway-style show.
• Disney Seas the Adventure: Like on the Treasure, this embarkation night show is packed with characters and sing-alongs. It’s perfect for building excitement right from day one.
• Disney’s The Little Mermaid: This reimagined telling of Ariel’s story includes new choreography and effects. With familiar songs and a shorter run time than the Broadway version, it’s a good fit for younger attention spans.

Best for: All ages, especially kids who love Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. There are plenty of visual cues and catchy tunes to hold their interest.

Disney Destiny Shows

Set to launch in December 2025, the Disney Destiny will be the sister ship to the Wish and Treasure. Onboard, you’ll find a familiar retelling of Frozen, along with a Destiny-exclusive show: Hercules. We recently were able to get a viewing of rehearsals for the show, which features larger-than-life puppetry, gospel music, and a thrilling story.

We visited the rehearsal space for Hercules in Toronto, where work was being done on bringing the show to life before the cast and crew move to rehearse onboard the ship in Germany.

• Disney Hercules: Disney Hercules is a show that’s exclusive to the Disney Destiny. Guests will get the chance to go on a mythical adventure alongside larger-than-life characters from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, turned into an exciting (and plenty funny) stage show. The legendary music you know and love from the film will return, too, and the Muses will sing their way through the iconic tale of good versus evil.
• Frozen, A Musical Spectacular: See your favorite characters from Frozen in a whole new way on the Disney Destiny. Frozen, A Musical Spectacular is a Broadway-style production that retells the iconic Disney Animation film in a new, whimsical way. You’ll relive Anna and Elsa’s adventures, encounter mythical trolls, and even spot summer-loving snowman Olaf in this show that’s also available on the Disney Wonder and the Disney Fantasy
• Disney Seas the Adventure: Like on the Treasure and Wish, this embarkation night show is packed with characters and sing-alongs. It’s perfect for building excitement right from day one.

Best for: Likely best suited for ages six and up, particularly those into action, fantasy, or the darker side of Disney storytelling.

Disney Adventure Shows

Another Disney Cruise Line ship set to debut in 2025 is the Disney Adventure, which will start its first few years exclusively sailing from Singapore. Live shows will include a musical extravaganza called Remember, starring the robots from the Pixar movie WALL-E and featuring heroes from Coco, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and more. Plus, you can enjoy Moana: Call of the Seas, Disney Seas the Adventure, and even a signature entertainment experience featuring Hiro and Baymax from Big Hero 6.

As part of a media event, our team was able to be among the first guests to get a sneak preview of Remember, where we witnessed a first look at bringing WALL-E to life for his Disney Cruise Line stage debut.

• Remember: This original show will star the robots from WALL-E, and will feature musical numbers from the heroes of Coco, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and other favorite Disney and Pixar animated films to restore EVE’s memories through the power of music, hope, and treasured remembrances.
• Moana: Call of the Seas: A musical retelling of Moana, presented on the “shores” of Wayfinder Bay. Different from what you’ll find on the Disney Treasure, this musical follows Moana’s journey accompanied by music, movement, puppetry, and water effects.
• Disney Seas the Adventure: Just like you’ll find on other Disney Cruise Line ships, this embarkation night show is packed with characters and sing-alongs.
• Baymax Super Exercise Expo: Join Hiro and Baymax from Big Hero 6 on the Garden Stage in Disney Imagination Garden for a high-energy musical exercise routine.

Best for: All ages, especially kids who love WALL-E and Moana. 

Disney Fantasy Shows

The Disney Fantasy offers some of the most iconic and polished shows in the fleet:

• Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular: Like on the Wish, this adaptation is upbeat and funny. The Genie keeps things fresh with modern jokes that even adults enjoy.
• Frozen, A Musical Spectacular: A musical retelling of Frozen, which you can find on the Disney Wonder and Disney Fantasy as well.
• Disney’s Believe: A fan favorite, this original story follows a scientist who rediscovers the magic of imagination thanks to his daughter—and a host of Disney friends. Emotionally resonant and highly entertaining for kids and adults alike.

Best for: Ages 5+, especially kids who enjoy character mashups and emotional stories with a sprinkle of magic.

Disney Magic Shows

The Disney Magic, the oldest ship in the fleet, still boasts beloved shows that hold up beautifully:

• Tangled: The Musical: Exclusive to the Magic, this stage version of Tangled features original songs written just for the cruise. Rapunzel, Flynn, and Maximus all make appearances, and the floating lantern scene is stunning in person.
• Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story: A unique alternate-timeline sequel to Cinderella. It’s imaginative and different from what kids might expect—but in a good way.
• Disney Dreams – An Enchanted Classic: This long-standing show follows a young girl learning to believe in magic. Featuring Peter Pan, Ariel, and other classic characters, it’s perfect for first-time cruisers.

Best for: Ages 4–10. The Tangled musical is especially great for Rapunzel fans, and the other shows are wholesome and filled with Disney charm.

Disney Dream Shows

The Disney Dream has a lineup of polished and popular shows:

• Beauty and the Beast: This production is one of the most technically impressive across all ships. It’s a more sophisticated adaptation, but the familiar story and characters make it accessible for kids.
• Disney’s Believe: Also found on the Fantasy, this show is a must-see for families, with its blend of heartwarming storytelling and magical characters.
• The Golden Mickeys: A Disney-style awards show where beloved characters are celebrated. The format might go over little ones’ heads, but the appearances by Disney favorites keep kids engaged.

Best for: Ages 6+. Beauty and the Beast on this ship is a standout for tweens or kids who love musicals.

What Else You Need to Know About Disney Cruise Line Entertainment for Kids

What’s so great about the live shows on the Disney Cruise Line ships is that you get Broadway-style entertainment without having to purchase a ticket or seat in advance. Just show up for the night to enjoy incredible performances by a talented cast and crew!

And, of course, there’s plenty to do outside of live shows on the Disney Cruise Line ships. Along with live shows, you’ll find characters onboard the ship, with plenty of chances to meet up with your favorite Disney friends. This can include at rotational dining, which features themed dinners onboard. Rotational dining allows you to experience immersive dining experiences, all included in the cost of your ticket. Depending on which ship you visit, you’ll get themed dining based on Coco, Frozen, The Lion King, and more!

Additionally, onboard each ship, you’ll find movie theaters with a dedicated cinema playing Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars films throughout the day (often including first-run releases!).
