Inspired by California folklore and the stories of those who built the bountiful state, stepping inside Storytellers Cafe is like entering a well-loved book. But while words – and California Craftsman-inspired touches – are plentiful inside, this table service restaurant is home to an expansive buffet that’ll leave no guest hungry.Â
Storytellers Cafe offers two distinct dining experiences: a character dining experience for breakfast and brunch, and a traditional buffet experience during dinner.Â
Storytellers Cafe Location
Storytellers Cafe is located in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. The restaurant sits outside the hotel’s main lobby, with its entrance facing the main gate to the pool complex.
Storytellers Cafe Menu
Storytellers Cafe is open for breakfast, brunch, and dinner service daily. Here, however, there are different types of dining experiences throughout the day.
In the morning, Storytellers Cafe offers character dining for breakfast and brunch: Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Brunch Buffet. This special experience combines a classic buffet breakfast and brunch menu with your favorite Disney characters (Mickey and Minnie, along with others, to be exact!) in adventure-ready attire.
During certain seasons of the year, Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Brunch Buffet will take on a special twist. An autumn-inspired version first appeared in fall 2024, and a holiday character pajama party brunch was offered in November and December 2024.Â
If you’re visiting Storytellers Cafe for dinner, you’ll get to enjoy a buffet without characters present. While the menu changes slightly – the Mickey waffles do disappear come dinner time, unfortunately – there’s still plenty to try regardless of your tastes.Â

Advance Dining Reservations
Like all of Disneyland Resort’s table service restaurants, it’s highly recommended that you make an advance dining reservation if you’re hoping to dine at Storytellers Cafe. Reservations are offered 60 days in advance, both for the character dining experiences and regular dinner service.
Storytellers Cafe is popular regardless of the time of the year, but its seasonal character dining experiences are especially in demand. Experiences like Mickey’s Autumn Adventures Breakfast Buffet and Mickey’s Holiday Pajama Party Brunch book up fast, which means you won’t want to wait if you’re interested in these limited-time offerings.
However, if you’re simply looking for a delicious and hearty meal, the regular character-free dinner experience at Storytellers Cafe is a great option – especially because walk-up tables and last-minute reservations are often available.
Is Storytellers Cafe Kid-Friendly?
Disney buffets are always a great choice for large groups and picky eaters, so you can bet on Storytellers Cafe if you’re visiting Disneyland with kids. It’s a wonderfully kid-friendly place to dine, even if you aren’t enjoying one of the character meals.Â
Storytellers Cafe offers a wealth of options for all tastes, from classic macaroni and cheese and chicken tenders to prime cuts of meat, an array of salads, and even fresh fruit. Whether you’re dining for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner, there’s guaranteed to be something you and your family can enjoy (and yes, both picky eaters and those with allergies are considered). The quality of the food is excellent, too.Â
And when it comes to the atmosphere, Storytellers Cafe is somewhere families will easily feel at home. The restaurant is always crowded with guests across all age groups, from infants to teens and adults-only parties. It’s a place filled with noise, too, so you don’t need to worry about kids who get up and move around, noisy little ones, or anyone who might be restless in your party.Â
