These festive seasonal activities feature zero frights and make Halloween at Disneyland fun for all ages.

Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort brings plenty of spooky fun, from the ghoulish Haunted Mansion Holiday attraction overlay to frightfully fun versions of your favorite Radiator Springs rides to tasty treats with devilish twists. But if you’re looking for kid-friendly Halloween fun that’s more fall-inspired than frightening, you’ll still find plenty to enjoy.

Fun for the whole family is available at both theme parks, Downtown Disney, and even the hotels during Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort. Below, I’m sharing my favorite kid-friendly options that toddlers, tweens, and adults alike will enjoy all season long.

Disney Characters Dressed Up in New Halloween Costumes

One of the most exciting happenings each Halloween season? It’s undeniably the appearance of your favorite Disney characters in brand-new seasonal attire.

Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Pluto, and Goofy all get in on the fun (along with the always-mischievous Chip ‘n’ Dale, too!) during Halloween at Disneyland, appearing on Main Street, U.S.A. in fresh costumes.

For Halloween 2024, these classic characters have fun new costumes once again, Mickey is dressed up as a skeleton, while Daisy and Donald are dressed up as a witch and wizard. Minnie dons a skeleton-inspired dress, and Goofy is decked out as a festive fall scarecrow.

These costumes aren’t the slightest bit spooky, but they do add some fun flair to the usual character meet and greets at Disneyland. Kids (and adults) won’t want to miss seeing their favorite faces out and about in special limited-time Halloween costumes!

Special Seasonal Character Dining

During the Halloween season at Disneyland, character dining gets an autumnal makeover at two of the resort hotel restaurants: Goofy’s Kitchen and Storytellers Cafe. And if your kids love a good character meal, these two extra-special offerings are well worth the cost.

At the Disneyland Hotel, guests can enjoy Goofy’s Kitchen Celebrates Halloween, a limited-time character dining experience that runs from August 23 to October 31, 2024. Chef Goofy and his friends are ready for the season in bewitching Halloween costumes, and the restaurant is decked out in Halloween decor for a hauntingly (and not at all spooky) good time. 

Plus, the buffet includes seasonal treats like orange Mickey waffles, pumpkin toast, roasted butternut squash panzanella, and Halloween desserts.

At Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Storytellers Cafe is home to the Mickey’s Autumn Breakfast or Brunch Buffet for a limited time. As families dine, Mickey himself – along with friends like Minnie and Chip ‘n’ Dale – will stop by wearing special, brand-new fall-inspired attire.

Both of these dining experiences are the same price as the regular character dining experiences. But, thanks to their special character costumes and theming, they make for an extra-special experience if you’re visiting during Halloween time.

Mickey’s Trick and Treat

When it comes to kid-friendly entertainment, there’s no better option than Mickey’s Trick and Treat. Featuring special costumes, beloved Disney characters, catchy tunes, and plenty of interactive fun, this stage show inside California Adventure’s Hollywood Land is a must-see for the season.

This once-exclusive show was previously limited solely to guests who purchased Oogie Boogie Bash tickets, but for 2024, it’s finally available to all California Adventure guests. With multiple shows daily, Mickey’s Trick and Treat is well worth popping by – especially if you’re visiting with a toddler or preschooler.

The show features no frights, but there is plenty of fun Halloween theming, from the pre-show videos that feature creepy-crawly spiders, bats flying around the room, and even Mickey himself wandering through a spooky house to the “scary” stories told during the performance. It’s all part of the excitement, though, as characters like Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald appear to tell some ghost stories and dance with guests.

Young kids will especially love the ability to stand up, move, and groove throughout the show. Dancing, wiggling, and general movement is encouraged, and kids can choose to move to their own beat or follow the steps led by Mickey and Minnie. 

Oh, and don’t overlook this toddler and preschooler favorite during the show: Bubbles!

Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit

If your kids want to get more actively engaged in some Halloween fun, Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit is the perfect opportunity. This resort-wide scavenger hunt sends kids of all ages hunting for specially-decorated pumpkins – and once kids have located every pumpkin on the map, they can hand their results over for a spooky keepsake.

Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit includes hidden pumpkins in Disneyland Park, California Adventure, and Downtown Disney. The fun kicks off August 30 and runs through November 1, 2024 (or while supplies last). It does cost $9.99 (plus tax) to play, but kids can redeem their map for the “prize” at the end of the day, even if they didn’t find every pumpkin on the list.

While very young kids may need some help playing Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit, the game is simple enough that school-age kids can embark on the fun with little to no help as they search the parks.
