Tusker House

Tusker House has undergone a major change over the last couple of years. When it opened it was a fast food restaurant, now it is a full sit-down buffet. It now hosts Donald’s Safari Breakfast. A full breakfast buffet with Donald and friends.

Animal Kingdom doesn’t have a very wide variety of restaurants to choose from. When it opened, other than Rainforest Cafe, there weren’t any sit down restaurants. That’s why Disney changed this restaurant from a quick-service to a sit-down restaurant.

Tusker House home of Donald’s Safari Breakfast

The outside of Tusker House

The buffet at Tusker House is a little more adventurous than your normal buffet. There are several dishes at all three meals that are inspired by African dishes. This is the home of the $100 breakfast.

Breakfast

Donald’s Safari Breakfast is served from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. “Awaken the Day” is the theme of this meal. This is a character breakfast starring Donald Duck (no, not Donald Trump) and his friends. Friends that are usually with Donald are Daisy, Mickey and Minnie.

Breakfast is a combination of the standard Disney buffet breakfast that includes lots of pasteries. You’ll also find some African specialties unique to this restaurant.

The morning starts with Jungle Juice. It might just be the best part of the meal. We loved it. It’s made with passion fruit, guava and orange juice. Dad is not a morning juice guy, but I drank 3 glasses of Jungle Juice.

Dad’s Bottom Line

Unlike EPCOT the Animal Kingdom doesn’t have a lot of choices when it comes to dining. Changing Tusker House to a buffet gives you more choices when it comes to dining in Animal Kingdom. This is an interesting choice.
