If you’re looking for a quiet lounge with gorgeous views and easy access to Magic Kingdom, Outer Rim is one of the most underrated hideaways inside Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This relaxed spot is perfect for winding down after a park day, grabbing a pre-dinner drink, or enjoying a peaceful mid-afternoon break while soaking in sweeping views of the iconic Bay Lake

Whether you’re stopping in before dinner at Chef Mickey’s or relaxing after a long Magic Kingdom day, Outer Rim delivers a relaxed, adult-friendly escape without feeling stuffy or overly themed.

Outer Rim Location

You’ll find Outer Rim on the fourth floor of the Contemporary, within the Grand Canyon Concourse. It’s directly across from Contempo Café.

Outer Rim Menu

Outer Rim is a lounge, so the focus here is on drinks — especially cocktails — along with a small but approachable selection of beer and wine. There’s no food menu at this bar, making it best suited for a quick sip or an hour or two of adult-focused relaxation.

The specialty cocktails blend tropical, refreshing, and classic flavors, with offerings like margaritas, fruity rum drinks, and bourbon-forward sips. Beer lovers will find a mix of domestic and craft options, while the wine list keeps things simple with a few guest-friendly pours. In general, this is an easy, low-pressure place to grab something familiar without feeling overwhelmed by options.

If you’re looking for an actual meal to pair with your drink, your best bet is to head across the concourse to Contempo Café for quick-service bites or to Chef Mickey’s for a full character dining experience.

Disney Dining Plan

The Disney Dining Plan is not accepted at Outer Rim. Since this is a lounge that focuses exclusively on beverages and does not serve food, no dining plan credits can be used here.

Advance Dining Reservations

Like other bars and lounges across Disney World, Outer Rim does not accept or require advance dining reservations. It’s walk-up only, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Because the space is on the smaller side, it may fill during peak evening hours, but generally it’s easy to find a spot.

Is Outer Rim Kid-Friendly?

Outer Rim is technically open to all ages, but it’s best suited for adults and older kids rather than little ones. There’s no food menu, and the environment is designed for relaxing with a drink rather than entertaining children.

However, families walking the Grand Canyon Concourse may want to pop in briefly, and the large windows overlooking Bay Lake can keep kids occupied for a bit while adults enjoy a quick break.
