Love is in the air – Celebrating Valentine’s Day at WDW

Do love and romance come to mind when you think of WDW? Excited kiddos, junk food, and thrill rides are only part of the equation at the most magical place on earth – love is the name of the game for many WDW visitors, and it’s an incredibly popular destination for dates, proposals, weddings, honeymoons, and anniversaries!

With Valentine’s Day only one sleep away I’ve been thinking a lot about love and the romantic times I’ve shared with my husband at WDW. It also got me to thinking about the great times I had making memories with my family there over the years – who says Valentine’s has to be only about romantic love?

With that in mind, today I’d like to share a list of my top 5 reasons to celebrate Valentine’s Day at WDW, and whether you’re visiting as a couple or a family something on this list is bound to catch your eye!

  1. Spoonful of Sugar

WDW is the place to be to get your sugar rush any time of year, but at Valentine’s you’ll find many popular treats like candies, cupcakes, cookies, cakepops, candy apples and pretzel wands get a makeover with red, white, and pink!

Specialty cupcakes with unique decorations and flavors pop up in the parks too, and many of the resort counter service and table service restaurant feature romantic dessert samplers for two (usually chocolate themed). Red Velvet Waffles pop up at Sleepy Hollow in the Magic Kingdom, and red velvet pancakes make an appearance at the Kona Café.

4. Kiss the Girl

Whether your idea of romance is Ariel and Eric’s seaworthy wedding, Han and Leia’s passionate kiss on Endor, or the fact that Mickey and Minnie are one of the world’s most beloved couples – WDW is the place to watch your favorite love stories come to life before your eyes!

Reminders of classic Disney love stories are everywhere, from shows to attractions to merchandise. Pick your favorite story and discover a new way to fall in love with it all over again!

Doesn’t this make you just want to hop on a plane and go have a romantic weekend at WDW? Hey, we can help. Give our partners over at Destinations to Travel a shout and you’ll be slurping up a spaghetti noodle before you know it.

  1. A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes

While most Disney visitors spend so much time in the parks they see little of their rooms, there is one feature of staying in a WDW resort hotel that can make your vacation extra special – in room celebrations!

In advance of your trip (or upon arrival with the help of the concierge) you can arrange to spoil your loved one with gifts ranging from flowers and candy or jewelry and tiaras to his-and-hers towels and spa products or even custom cakes! Nothing says I Love You quite like a special in-room surprise!

2. Can You Feel the Love Tonight

Romantic experiences are everywhere at Walt Disney World – things you may never have considered! Watch fireworks from the beach, enjoy a special dinner for two, kiss underneath the Eiffel Tower, or take a moonlight boat ride across the seven seas lagoon.

For a little (or a lot) of extra cash, you can arrange a private fireworks cruise, take a horse and carriage ride along the Sassagoula River, get a couple’s massage at Senses Spa, soar above the clouds in a hot air balloon on Characters in Flight!

1. You’ll Be In My Heart

Above all, WDW is for making memories with those you love! Whether it’s a romantic trip with your partner or a fun-filled family adventure, you’re sure to come away with loads of laughs, hugs, and special encounters to remember! And spending quality time with the ones you love most is what Valentines Day (and a Disney trip) is all about!
