Disney Port Orleans French Quarter

The Disney Port Orleans French Quarter is as close to New Orleans as you can get in Florida. The balconies street lamps, railings, hedges all make you think of the Crescent city, but don’t worry, this is just a representation of the French Quarter. No beads exchanges here.

Port Orleans French Quarter

You can almost smell the Cajun cooking as you walk down the lanes lined with gas lamps. You’ll hear the soothing sounds of smooth New Orleans jazz as you walk around the resort.

Guest Rooms

The guest rooms at the Disney Port Orleans French Quarter are in New Orleans inspired buildings complete with magnolia blossoms and wrought iron railings around balconies. Rooms are 314 square feet. All rooms have recently been upgraded to either two queen size or one king size bed.

Dining

Mardi Gras is the theme of the Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory (Food Court). Bright colors and flavors abound with Creole and American classics ranging from hamburgers to Muffaletta’s.

Activities and more

Jackson Square is the place to find activities at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter including the requisite Disney Arcade and shopping areas. You can grab a nice quiet 20 minute boat ride to the Disney Springs Marketplace for some shopping.

Doubloon Lagoon is the swimmin hole around these parts. It comes complete with a waterslide that looks like a giant sea serpent. Lot’s of other activities are available just a short walk up the Sassagoula River to Port Orleans Riverside.

Transportation

This resort is huge and a long way from almost anything else at Disney World. Transportation is done by bus, or as Disney calls them Luxury Motor Coaches. They go from the resort to the theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs. It can be a chore to get to some of the other resorts. That’s why Dad always recommends a car at Disney World.

PS. Disney has added a parking fee for guests parking a car overnight.

Dad’s Bottom Line

The Port Orleans Resort is huge. It covers about 100 square miles (or so it seems). The rooms are comfortable and well kept, and with the addition of the queen sized beds this place is not a bad place to go for your next Disney World vacation.
